Dizziness Symptom Profile (DSP) Online Calculator

The Dizziness Symptom Profile (DSP) is a 31-item questionnaire designed to help clinicians identify patterns in a patient’s dizziness symptoms. Patients rate how strongly they agree or disagree with each statement, and the results are grouped into several symptom categories. The DSP can support clinical reasoning and help guide the differential diagnosis, but it does not provide a diagnosis on its own. Results should be reviewed by a qualified medical professional along with the patient’s history, examination findings, and any appropriate testing.

Before you begin

The Dizziness Symptom Profile is a case-history tool. It may point to symptom patterns for a clinician to consider, but it cannot confirm a condition or give a diagnosis. Only a qualified medical professional can diagnose the cause of dizziness after reviewing your history, examining you, and deciding whether tests are needed.

DSP Category Scores

Each category is normalized to a score from 0% to 100%. A score of 60% or higher is a positive endorsement, meaning that category should be considered as part of the differential diagnosis.

Clinical interpretation: The DSP supports case-history review and differential diagnosis. A positive endorsement is not a diagnosis. Interpret results with the patient’s history, examination, testing, and clinical judgment.
